Finding a Deaf world in perspective 

Deaf Awakening is a brand new theatrical production explores in a series of monologues/dialogues/short scenes of Deaf world perspective in language, Deaf image, discrimination and cultural appropriation. 

This play aim to educate the public about the recurring theme of daily discrimination, system expulsion, ignorance and cultural misappropriation where a Deaf person find themselves in a dominant environment culture however this also raise awareness of the beauty of Deaf culture and to try appreciate Deaf community more. 

This play have been written through following interviews where the writer have conducted through all age and gender deaf person about their views on their experience as a deaf person on wide variety of issues/experiences through their childhood years, family life, workplace, finding their identity and Sign Language.

For the last nearly one year have been really difficult times for everyone especially for theatre industry where we have seen our production showcase cancelled last year May with Camden People’s Theatre through coronavirus pandemic. 


Still we want like to give our big thanks and appreciation with Queen’s Theatre, actors and our crew to able film six short stories for the book. We are looking forward to the next stage getting all the materials coming together in the book along with our fantastic book designer Chrissan Moldrich. 


Lastly we want to say thank you for everyone who have participate interview with the writer who have given valuable insight source materials, partaken the role in creating amazing theatre play book. Watch here for video announcement from Alex Nowak.


Last summer we were able to work, develop and produce six short films extract from 14 monologue/stories from script, working with actors two actors Will Lewis and Alex Nowak and the support space from Queen’s Theatre. Now we are looking forward to receiving the publishing book which will be on general sale this March 2021. Soon we will be opening our first store where you will able to make a purchase of the book.
